Being a teacher isn’t easy. The hours are long, the work is challenging, and sometimes the job can feel thankless. But teachers have an amazing impact, and if anybody deserves appreciation for the work they do, it’s teachers.
At Education Elements, we have the privilege of working with exceptional teachers who strive to personalize learning for every student. Teachers inspire us all year round, but next week is a special opportunity for us to show how we feel. Tuesday, May 3rd is national Teacher Appreciation Day... but we prefer to take our cues from the NEA and the national PTA by celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week!
In honor of Teacher Appreciation week, we’ve trawled the internet so that we can share with you some of our favorite reminders of the great work teachers do. Take a few minutes to check out the links below, then take a minute to show your support for teachers by:
Tweeting your favorite teacher appreciation links and memes @edelements #TeacherAppreciationWeek #ThankATeacher
Sharing your favorite memory of a teacher who changed your life, or the life of a child you know @edelements #TeacherAppreciationWeek #ThankATeacher
Using this PTA toolkit to create thank you cards for the educators in your life
And, most important of all, taking some time next week to thank a teacher in person for all that they do!
And, without further ado, our five favorite things the internet has to offer on just how great teachers are:
There’s no other job like the job of a teacher. This Donald D. Quinn quote, himself a former educator, really drives the point home:

Not everyone appreciates just what it is teachers do, and what they make. We think slam poet Taylor Mali says it best:
A teacher’s job is hard work, and it doesn’t stop when the school bell rings. We love this video because it shows just how dedicated teachers are to their work, and what keeps them going:
Teaching isn’t just about imparting knowledge, it’s about teaching kids to seek knowledge on their own. The webcomic Lunarbaboon has a great example. Read the whole comic here
And finally, our personal favorite, what would happen if our society really gave teachers the respect they deserve? Key and Peele think it would look a little something like this:
We know that you, like us, appreciate teachers every day of the year, but take a moment this next week to show exactly how you feel. Tweet your appreciation @Edelements #ThankATeacher #TeacherAppreciationWeek
