The Charleston County School District (CCSD) is one of South Carolina's largest school districts, consisting of 88 schools and special programs. The district's student population reflects a rich diversity serving approximately 50,000 students, including 43% African-American, 34% White, 12% Hispanic and 5% Asian students. CCSD is centrally located within Charleston County, which includes urban, suburban, and rural communities.
The Challenge
Charleston County School District faced the challenge of addressing learning loss and maintaining educational momentum post-COVID-19 while accommodating diverse student needs across various educational programs. To meet this challenge, they developed an instructional framework designed to unify teaching practices and ensure consistency from early childhood through high school.
