The Challenge
Wake County needs to expand its network of schools to meet the growing population, opening two to four new schools each year. In 2016, Wake County built Rogers Lane Elementary School with three main objectives:
Create a lighthouse school instructional model and new school design process, that other schools opening within the district can follow in the coming years;
Build supports for students and teachers to make large academic gains, especially for traditionally underperforming student populations;
Proactively address initiatives identified within the district strategic plan around teaching and learning, achievement, balanced assessment systems, and community engagement.
