Frequently Asked Questions

• Contest entries must be from a US-based public school district.  We are just starting to consider districts beyond the US, but we aren’t quite there yet.
• Contest is only open to districts not currently working with Education Elements. We love you guys, but we want to share the love.
• Entry must be complete, contain all 3 videos, and follow the guiding questions. 
• Entries that have poor audio/visual or are in any way offensive in nature will not be accepted.

• Submit short 3 short videos, one each from the Superintendent/CAO, School Leader, and Teacher/Coach.  All three must participate.
• The three videos should do the following:
1. Outline why your district is interested in personalized learning. [Superintendent, <1 minute]
2. Talk about what your school has already done, or plans to do, around personalized learning and why. [Principal, <2 minutes]
3. Talk about why PL excites you and how you think it will impact your students. [Teacher/Coach, <3 minutes]

• To receive their prize, winning superintendents must agree by November 30 2017 to a scope of work, and sign the EE contract. (If you are the winner, our legal team will work with yours modify where necessary and come to a mutually acceptable agreement.)
• Winners must also agree to receive the consulting services awarded from the prize at a mutually agreeable time between January 2 and February 28 2018.

• Up to 10 winners will be selected by our panel of education-related celebrity judges.

• The last date to submit your application is September 29, 2017 at 5pm PT.  Late submissions will not be accepted.

• Selected winners can choose from three prize options:
1. District Strategy Session Focused on Personalized Learning
2. District Foundations Session Focused on Personalized Learning
3. Learning Walks + Onpoint Personalized Learning Benchmark Assessment
• There are no cash prizes associated with this contest and no prize substitutions are allowed.
• The first 30 applicants will receive a free Rocketbook Everlast.

• District Strategy Session Focused on Personalized Learning
• As the district gets ready to embark on its next step with personalized learning, Education Elements will support the winning district leaders in developing an aligned strategy and roadmap for personalized learning through a District Strategy Session. This session provides the opportunity for your district leaders to align around a common vision and language, and to develop priority areas for short and long-term timeline. This session will provide opportunities for the team to learn more about the essential elements of personalized learning, and provide an opportunity for participants to explore examples of what personalized learning looks like in other districts and schools across the country.

• District Foundations Focused on Personalized Learning
• As the district gets ready to embark on its next step with personalized learning, Education Elements will support the winning district and school leaders in developing a common language for, and understanding of personalized learning through a Foundations Workshop. This workshop provides the opportunity for your district and school leaders to understand the components of personalized learning. The workshop will include a personalized learning simulation for all participants; provide opportunities for the team to learn more about the essential elements of personalized learning; and provide an opportunity for participants to explore examples of what personalized learning looks like in other districts and schools across the country.

• Learning Walks + “Onpoint” Benchmark
• Education Elements will work with the winning district that selects this option to support the district’s personalized learning implementation by providing a set of learning walks where our experienced personalized learning consultants visit the school classrooms and observe their personalized learning practices in action. During the beginning of the learning walks, Education Elements will meet with the district and school staff to discuss their personalized learning progress to-date. Following the learning walks, Education Elements will put together a debrief report outlining the strengths and areas for growth in each school visited. In this report, the district will also be provided with a snapshot of where they are in the personalized learning continuum in relation to other districts who have implemented personalized learning practices, called the Onpoint score report. Onpoint score report is a single number score that captures the current state of personalized learning in your district and benchmarks it against other districts across the country.

1. Single number score, kind of like a credit score, but for Personalized Learning
2. Based on the categories/elements of PL Framework
3. Benchmarks your progress against similar districts
4. Shows trends in your PL implementation over time
5. Always anonymous, we will not identify your district’s score publicly
6. Leverages shared learnings to improve personalized school experience for all

• When submitting the videos you will also be asked to fill out a short form with basic district information

• Sorry. Only one submission is allowed per school.

• Yes. You will receive a thank you email upon submission but submissions will not be reviewed until after the deadline has passed.

• Winners will be announced on our website and via social media in late October. Please follow us on Twitter (@EdElements) and check back at our website to see the winning videos.

• Prizes will be delivered in January and Feb of 2018. Education Elements will reach out to the submitter and/or the district leader of winning districts to work out all of the details of how, when, and where, and find a mutually agreeable time.

• Submissions and video submissions can be used by Education Elements for marketing on our website and social media
• Don’t include music unless you have permission to do so
• Winners will not receive cash prizes, but rather services from EE; no substitutions allowed.
• To receive their prize, winning superintendents must agree by November 30 2017 to a contact, and sign the agreement; and, they must also agree to receive services from Ed Elements at a mutually agreeable time during January or February 2018.  
• EE is not responsible for late or incomplete entries or a failure on part of the winning districts to fully engage with EE and schedule delivery of EE services within the designated timeframe; there are no remedies or awards other than EE providing the service.
• Multiple entries are not allowed.
• Participants agree to abide by applicable laws and regulations.
• EE retains the right to disqualify any participant if the rules are not followed.
• If the contest is not able to run as planned, without limitation, EE reserves the right to cancel, or modify the Challenge at our discretion.
