Name: James Dallas

Role: Director of Teaching and Learning

Years in education: 30

Years district has worked with Education Elements: 1+

About James: James is responsible for the strategic direction, organization, and delivery of quality instruction in all LCPS schools and programs. He supports all schools, including the 25 LCPS schools that participate in personalized learning design and training. A former Loudoun County Public Schools principal, James was designated the 2012 Principal of the Year.

What are you most proud of this past year? “What I hear teachers say is that traditionally, they’ve struggled to meet the needs of every student in their classroom, and part of that has been design. So, our work with Education Elements in designing instructional models has given teachers the flexibility they need to create a learning environment that personalizes the student experience. Now more than ever, teachers share that much of their success in the classroom can be attributed not only to digital content and other student resources but also to designing a learning space that fosters student growth in communicating, collaborating, critical thinking, creating, and contributing to the world.”

What is your superpower? “Relationship building. I understand the power of cultivating relationships with the adults whom I am supporting. By having really strong relationships with principals, they are open to the support that we provide, and they trust that what we are trying to do is designed to help them provide a better experience for their students.”
