9th Annual Hispanic/Latino Studies Virtual Summer Institute

A Marathon Towards Educational Transformation: Affirming the History, Culture, and Language of Hispanic/Latino Students

The Office of African, African American, Latino, Holocaust, and Gender Studies in the School District of Palm Beach County, will be hosting its 9th Annual Hispanic/Latino Studies Virtual Summer Institute. On May 25th from 3:30 to 7:00 PM EST, and on May 27th from 2:30 to 5:30 PM EST, presentations by experts will be recorded and used for professional development purposes by the School District of Palm Beach County. Registered attendees will be able to participate to help elevate the recordings for the institute.

“The goal of the annual summer institute is to help increase cultural competence among District personnel and assist in the development of culturally responsive instruction and curriculum,” said Patricia Trejo, the Administrative Program Planner for Hispanic/Latino Studies in the Teaching and Learning department. “The infusion of Hispanic/Latino history is a vital part of creating a culturally relevant curriculum, which is imperative to the academic success of all students.”

A number of leading experts in the field of education will convene during the institute to facilitate the important work of developing an equitable learning experience for Hispanic/Latino students in the School District, which will help to increase their academic achievement.
