With a history of innovation, Westside Community Schools has embarked on a journey to personalize learning for every student. Blane McCann, Superintendent of WCS, will share the steps WCS has taken, and Ben Politzer, of Education Elements, will provide a nationwide perspective on how districts like WCS are strategizing and executing their plans.

The Event:
The Nebraska Distance Learning Association is hosting a spring conference, Blended Pathways for Learning, on February 25–26, 2016 at the Omaha Marriott 10220 Regency Circle, Omaha, NE. The event will have two full days of featured speakers, breakout sessions, and time to visit exhibitors.
Dr. Blane McCann is the Superintendent for Westside Community Schools. He is a career educator, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in secondary social studies education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and his PhD at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Dr. McCann worked as a high school and middle school social studies teacher at school districts in Florida and Iowa, and has extensive experience leading change. Dr. McCann earned his Masters in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
Ben Politzer is the Director of Sales at Education Elements. He is a former math teacher and middle school principal. He served as Vice President at Extreme Learning which was a pioneer in offering live, online instruction to thousands of students a year. Throughout the course of his 20+ years in education, Ben has been interested in effective solutions that impact educational equity. Ben graduated from Brown University and obtained his masters from Stanford University.
