SPOTLIGHTS

Marion CSD Pursues Teacher Prep Partnership

Marion logo June NY NL 200Shoutout to Marion CSD for taking important steps to help mold the future educators of our students. Marion is working with one of the region's largest local teacher preparation colleges to establish a partnership. They hope to have speech-language therapists and teacher education students on-site to experience and learn about the instructional philosophies and practices of personalized learning. Leadership staff from the college recently engaged in a series of learning walks through Marion classrooms, and left excited about the possibilities for their students in learning more about these innovative teaching practices.

Waterloo CSD Making PBL Personal

Screen Shot 2018-05-24 at 6.17.29 PM-177492-editedDid you know chickens could hatch without a shell? High school students in Waterloo CSD do! Students in Lisa Parish’s science class were inspired by a video on YouTube showing students in China hatching chickens without an egg shell. The Waterloo students worked with both local and national companies and scientists through social media, Skype conversations, and visits to get support for their experiment. Lisa presented “Making PBL Personal” at the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Regional Personalized Learning Conference. Follow Lisa on Twitter @LisaBridie!
